Get around with a Lanzarote Airport car hire

Lanzarote is a fantastic island to explore and it’s easy to get around with a car hire. Like the other Canary Islands, Lanzarote has a spectacular diversity of landscapes as a result of its volcanic origins. However, Lanzarote feels the most otherworldly. In Timanfaya National Park for example, you’ll find landscapes completely lacking in vegetation and of varying hues including red, orange, black and yellow. Just south of the park on the coast in El golfo, you’ll also find the Green Lagoon, which was formed from a sunken crater. The green of the waters are a result of natural algae in the water.

The island makes a fantastic escape for beach lovers too. And there is a great selection of beaches such as El Papagayo, Las Conchas, Famara and Caleton Blanco. Arrecife, the capital of the island, also has a nice beach. It’s a lively port city with a lovely old town. Even if you end up staying elsewhere on the island, Arrecife is worth a visit for a day trip.

Unexpectedly, Lanzarote also has a wine region – primarily producing sweet wines. But instead of a typical vineyard, individual vines are grown in zocos. Zocos look like small craters protected by short walls of volcanic stones. It’s quite a sight to see and the wine tastes pretty good too!
