Returning a car hire to A Coruña Airport | Travel Blog | DriveSpain

Here’s our quick guide to returning a car hire to A Coruña Airport. It includes information about driving to the airport, which suppliers are located on-site as well as which car park you need. You can find more of our posts on A Coruña including our guide to collecting an A Coruña Airport car hire on our blog.

A Coruña Airport car hire: Who’s here?

There are several big names with an on-airport location. They include: AvisBudgetHertzThriftyEuropcarEnterpriseAlamo. Spanish company OK Rent-a-Car also has a desk inside A Coruña Airport. Other car hire brands that can be returned directly to the airport are Dollar (who share a desk with Hertz-Thrifty) and Keddy (who are a low-cost Europcar subsidiary and should be returned to their desk).

Driving to A Coruña Airport

A Coruña Airport lies around 10kms south of A Coruña’s city centre. It’s located just off the AC-14 at junction 7. The AC-14 is one of the key roads into A Coruña. The airport is also within easy access to the N-550, which is a smaller road spanning from A Coruña to Pontevedra and the Portuguese border.

The airport is also less than an hour’s drive from the historic city of Santiago de Compostela via the AP-9 motorway (a toll road). Like the N-550, the AP-9 goes north to south in Galicia but is obviously a faster road. In any case, as you near the airport from wherever you are, you’ll likely end up either on the AC-14 or N-550 for the airport.

The airport is well signposted from both the AC-14 and N-550. Just look out for yellow signs with ‘aeropuerto’. You may also see similar airport signs with ‘Alvedro’ on it. This is because it’s the airport’s old name and they haven’t got around to changing the signs…

On the AC-14, take exit 7 for ‘aeropuerto’

If you need to return the car with a full tank of petrol, there is a petrol station about 4kms south of the airport on the N-550 (Avenida Alvedro).

Car Rental Parking

The airport has three car parks: General Parking, Car Rental Parking and Express Parking. But whilst most of car hires should be returned to Car Rental Parking, if you’ve got a car supplied by OK Rent-a-Car, you need to return it to Express Parking.

Move to the left lane for Car Rental Parking and middle lane for Terminal and Express Parking

Avis-Budget, Hertz-Thrifty, Europcar or Enterprise-Alamo

If you’re returning a car to one of the above companies, you need Car Rental Parking. As you approach the airport, you should move into the left lane. It’s the first parking entrance you’ll come up to.

OK Rent-a-Car

If you have a car with OK Rent-a-Car, you should move into the middle lane for ‘Terminal’. You’ll then need to move into the left lane for Express Parking. Shortly after passing the Terminal, you’ll see the entrance to Express and OK Rent-a-Car Parking on your right.

Final checks and returning the keys

Once you’ve parked the car, don’t forget to do the normal checks. If there isn’t a member of staff available to check and sign off the car whilst you’re there, it’s worth taking a few pictures of the car so you have proof of the condition you left it in. The car hire desks are in the Arrivals Hall of the airport.
