Collecting a Granada Airport car hire | Travel blog | DriveSpain.com

In this post, we bring you our guide to collecting a Granada Airport car hire. On our blog, you can also find our guide to returning a car hire to Granada Airport.

Welcome to Granada

Stunning and steeped in history, Granada has got to be one of Spain’s most fascinating cities. It helps that the city is home to the Alhambra, which is arguably one of the most impressive fortresses in the world. The city’s hilly landscape provides numerous spots to enjoy views of the Moorish fortress. And the Alhambra provides numerous spots to enjoy views of the whitewashed neighbourhoods of Granada. Of course, beyond the city, there’s plenty more to enjoy in Andalucia from pretty hilltop towns and marvellous beaches.

Collecting a Granada Airport car hire

Granada Airport is named after local poet Federico Garcia Lorca and also serves the Jaén province

As Granada is surrounded by mountains, the most convenient way to get around is with your own set of wheels. And Granada Airport is a convenient location to pick up a car hire. The airport has easy access to the A-92 and N-432C. From either of these, you can join the A-44, which runs from Motril to Jaén. The city itself is just 20 minutes drive away. If you’re planning to spend some time in the city before picking up a rental, there is also a great bus service connecting Granada’s city centre to the airport.

Serving just a small number of airlines, Granada Airport is compact, comfortable and easy to get around. Everything is on the ground floor level with arrivals at one end of the terminal and departures at the other.

There are a number of car hire suppliers available at the airport although some of these are actually located off-airport. However, they do provide free shuttle buses to ferry customers between the terminal and their office. This guide deals specifically with collecting an on-airport car hire.

On-airport car hire

The car hire companies with an on-airport desk and cars in the airport’s parking are: Avis and Budget, who share a desk, as well as Spanish company, OK Rent-a-Car.

The car hire desks are located in the arrivals hall. If you’re picking up your Granada Airport car hire after flying in, after leaving Baggage Reclaim and entering the Arrivals Hall, you’ll see the car hire desks towards your right. If you’re arriving by bus or taxi, just head into the terminal and walk towards your left for the arrivals side of the building as well as the car hire desks.

Airport Parking

Cars are parked in the airport car park directly opposite the terminal building. There is really hardly any walking to do at all! Your car should be easy to find as the parking bays are marked with the relevant car hire company logo and a number. Don’t forget to do the usual checks on the car. After you’ve found your car, if you have any questions or if there are any issues with the car, just head back into the terminal. It’s not very far anyway!

Off-airport car hire

Companies including Enterprise, Alamo, Goldcar, Rhodium and Europcar have offices less than a kilometre away from the terminal. If you’re collecting a car from one of these companies or another off-airport supplier, do check the booking voucher or with your booking agent for instructions.

Need anything else before you leave?

Although small, Granada Airport has the main services you could expect from an airport including a tourist information desk, a café and a couple of cash machines. There isn’t a currency exchange desk at the airport so do make sure you’ve got Euros with you or a card you can use at an ATM.

For more information on services available at Granada Airport, visit: Granada Airport’s official website.
