Alicante Airport is the gateway to Spain’s beautiful Costa Blanca. It’s one of several airports serving the Valencian Community along with Valencia Airport and Castellon Airport. To the south, Murcia Airport is also not very far.

The Costa Blanca (or ‘White Coast’ in English) has numerous beach resorts to choose from. The most popular of these include Benidorm, San Juan, Calpe and Denia, which are all north of the airport along the AP-7. South of the airport, Torrevieja is also popular.
Alicante, the city, is only 15 minutes drive from the airport. One of the bigger cities in the Valencian region, it offers a good mix of city and beach life. The star attraction is the Santa Barbara Castle, which sits on top of Benacantil Mountain. From there, you can enjoy incredible views of the city and sea. It’s also worth spending some time wandering the narrow streets of the old city at the foothills of the mountain. And if you don’t like the sound of walking up a mountain, you’ll be glad to know there’s a lift. Even if you’re staying elsewhere in the Costa Blanca, you won’t regret a visit to Alicante and its castle.
The city also has a lovely promenade that takes in the marina and Playa Postiguet, the city beach. The region is famous for its paella and you’ll find numerous varieties served in Alicante and all along the coast. If you’re not a fan of rice, fideua is another Alicante specialty. It’s similar to paella but made with short vermicelli noodles, which gives the dish its name.
