Barcelona Airport (Barcelona-El Prat Airport is its full name) is one of the biggest airports in Spain. It’s the main airport serving Catalonia in northeast Spain and is located just 10kms from Barcelona. Other airports in Catalonia include Girona Airport and Reus Airport.
Get around with a Barcelona Airport car hire
In Catalonia, Barcelona is a big highlight. Jampacked with cultural and architectural gems and famed for its legendary nightlife, Barcelona also boasts a fantastic foodie scene. To top it off, it also has a great beach! The work of Antoni Gaudi is tied into the fabric of the city. Indeed, it’s hard to think of visiting Barcelona without also seeing Gaudi’s work. The Sagrada Familia and colourful Parc Guell are just two of the highlights.
You’ll find more city highlights on top of Montjuic Hill. There you’ll find a castle, the Museum of National Art and the Joan Miro Foundation. A cable car connects the beach and Montjuic Hill. It’s a great way to reach the hill. As well as being easy on your feet, you can enjoy views of the sea and city on your way to the up (or down if you’re taking it from the hill to the beach).
Beyond Barcelona, there’s more of Catalonia to explore. Other beach cities like Sitges and Mataro are easy to reach with a car hire. And away from the coast, the dramatic rock formations of Montserrat Mountain and its monastery are worth a visit. Girona, is another beautiful Catalonian city with a great vibe and foodie scene. It’s about an hour and a half’s drive northwest of Barcelona.
