Collecting a Barcelona Airport car hire at T2 | DriveSpain

Here’s our guide to collecting a Barcelona Airport car hire at T2. We also have a guides to collecting a Barcelona Airport car hire at T1 as well as return guides to both terminals on our blog. When booking a car hire, do make sure you check which terminal it needs to be collected at. The two terminals are about 5 kms apart so do make sure you check which terminal you are booking a car hire for. Thankfully, there is a free airport shuttle service between the two just in case!

Barcelona Airport T2

The full name for Spain’s second biggest airport is Barcelona El Prat Airport. The El Prat bit comes from the municipality of El Prat Llobregat, which is where it is located in. Barcelona itself is about 12kms drive northeast from the airport.

As already mentioned, the airport has two terminals: T1 and T2. And they’re not that close to each other! However, there is a free airport shuttle bus that goes between the two terminals. Unless you’ve gone to the wrong terminal, need to get a connecting flight or pick up a car hire in the other terminal, you should find everything you need in the terminal you land in.

Airlines flying into T2

The airlines that use T2 tend to be the low-cost carriers and include: easyJet, Ryanair, Jet2, Wizz Air and Norwegian. You can check which airlines are flying into which terminal on AENA’s website for Barcelona Airport. (AENA is the Spanish airport authority and manage many of Spain’s airports)

T2 Arrivals Hall

T2 is quite spread out and is split into three sections: A, B and C. There is a Baggage Reclaim and Arrivals Hall for each section. However, regardless of which section you arrive in, once you exit the terminal, you can easily walk into the Arrivals Hall of the other sections. This is handy because the main services including all the car hire desks are in Section B of T2 (also referred to as T2 B).

There are eight on-airport car hire desks inside T2 B. If you’ve arrived in T2 A or T2 C, exit the terminal and follow signs to T2 B. They’re only a few hundred metres apart.

  • Goldcar-Rhodium
  • Hertz-Thrifty
  • Enterprise-Alamo
  • Avis-Budget
  • Sixt
  • Europcar-Keddy

The second group (consisting of two desks), is located close to the Ryanair ticket desk, which is at the far end of T2 B. It’s also close to where the pharmacy is. They are:

Off-airport car hire

Suppliers with an office a few minutes drive away include: AutoclickCentauro and OK Rent-a-car. Do make sure you check your booking voucher for instructions on how to collect your car.

Car Park

All on-airport car hire is parked in the main car park directly in front of the terminal. So once you’ve got your car keys, exit the airport and head across the road. Each of the on-airport car hire suppliers here have kiosks in the car park, which are easy to spot from outside the terminal. So if you have a question or have a problem once you’ve found your car, you should be able to find a member of staff who can help.

To get to Barcelona

The main road to and from the airport is the C-32. After a couple of kilometres, look out for signs to Barcelona and take the C-31 heading that way. It’s only a 20 minute drive your Barcelona Airport car hire to the centre of town.
