A Cupcake ATM by Sprinkles
Photo by East Midtown Partnership. If you’re in the US, the country that gave us the cupcake has now given us something else to go crazy for: the Cupcake ATM.
24/7 access to cupcakes. You can see why it’s popular! Flavours at the Sprinkles bakery range from peanut butter chocolate to lemon coconut and even include vegan red velvet and gluten free red velvet cupcakes. They also have monthly specials (this month’s specials include cuban coffee and lemon meringue) and you can also find a treat for your dog… so you could share the love whilst you walk your furry friend. For the time being, the ATMs are attached to the bakeries but the makers are hoping to design a standalone ATM that will still be able to supply fresh cupcakes and still be cost-effective (you can read more in this Fortune blog).
Those very clever people at Sprinkles have given us a thoroughly 21st century treat bringing together a couple of classics: the cupcake and the vending machine (it basically is a vending machine…It’s just sexier).
Here’s a look at one recently opened in New York. Pictures are care of Flickr’s Creative Commons and are by Rachel Kramer Bussel, Rachel Kramer Bussel and The All-Nite Images.

Only in America… so far
Sadly, they are still only available in the USA but makers, Sprinkles, have reportedly partnered up with another company to take the Cupcake ATM international too so watch this space. Until then, you can find a cupcake near you at pretty much any bakery or supermarket. Unsurprisingly, I got a craving for one writing this so here’s my Raspberry Ripple cupcake from Greggs (it’s not quite as glamourous but it is pink).
Cupcake love
Sprinkles have locations from California to Georgia. You can find our more and see where you can find them here: www.sprinkles.com. I’m very much looking forward to feasting on one of their cupcakes when I go on a roadtrip in the Deep South in a couple of weeks time (they have one in Atlanta, hurrah!).
