Fuerteventura Airport is the main gateway to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. With an excellent network of roads, it’s easy to get around the island with a car hire. Puerto del Rosario, the island’s capital, is just a few kilometres north of the airport. It’s the island’s commercial centre and has a lovely promenade, which acts like an open-air gallery with sculptures from Juan Bordes, an artist from the Canary Islands.

Many visitors to the island, however, head straight to one of the various beach resorts on the island. Fuerteventura has some of the best and biggest beaches in the Canary Islands so it’s no surprise this is the main reason people love it. Corralejo is one of the most popular and is located right at the top of the island. The city itself has the liveliest nightlife on the island. And for beach lovers, the star attraction is its closeness to the Grandes Playas. There, you’ll find sand dunes and miles of sandy beach to enjoy.

Morro Jable is another popular beach resort, which you’ll find at the other end of the island in the south. It too has a long expanse of sandy beach. Jandia Natural Park is also just a short drive from Morro Jable and offers a fantastic diversity of landscapes including mountain ranges, smaller beaches and rugged cliffs.

Caleta de Fuste is closer to the airport and is popular with young families. As it lies in a bay, you can enjoy a more sheltered beach experience. Costa Calma, further south of Caleta de Fuste, has a lovely long sandy beach. As the name suggests, Costa Calma is better for people looking for a more quiet beach escape.
