La Gomera Airport is one of the main gateways to La Gomera in the Canary Islands. You can fly direct to La Gomera from Tenerife North Airport. You can also get a ferry to the island from Los Cristianos in Tenerife and Santa Cruz de La Palma in La Palma. The airport is located on the southern coast of the island, about 30kms from the island’s capital, San Sebastian de La Gomera.

Like the other Canary Islands, La Gomera is volcanic in nature and has a spectacular diversity of landscapes as a result. The island is circular in shape and has been designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It’s a walker’s paradise with over 600 kilometres of trails available. Many of these are in the Garonjay National Park, which lies at the heart of the island. Famous for its laurel forests, the park also boasts rocky peaks, lush vegetation and deep ravines.
Los Organos is another of the island’s natural wonders. As the name suggests, it looks like hundreds of organ pipes all carved into the face of the cliff. You can only enjoy it by boat and there are many boat operators offering excursions to the site.
With the island’s great network of roads, it’s easy to explore and get around La Gomera with a car hire. Popular places to stay as a base include Playa de Santiago and Valle Gran Rey. Both have good beaches and dining options. Playa de Santiago is just a few kilometres from the airport and Valle Gran Rey is on the island’s west coast.
