Malaga Airport is the gateway to the Costa del Sol, one of Spain’s most visited areas. The airport is one of several serving Andalucia in Spain’s south. Others include Granada Airport, Almeria Airport, Jerez Airport and Seville Airport. And although Gibraltar Airport isn’t in Spain, it’s another good choice for people visiting the Costa del Sol.

Enjoy more with a Malaga Airport car hire

Many flying into Malaga head straight to one of many beach resorts along the coast. And in terms of beaches, you really are spoilt for choice! With a car hire, reaching them is easy. Beach resorts including Marbella, Fuengirola and Torremolinos are located west of the airport. East of the airport, you’ll find others such as Nerja and Torre del Mar.

Malaga also has lovely beaches around it. If you’re looking for a good combination of beach and local city life, Malaga makes a great base for exploring the area. At the very least, it’s worth a visit for a day trip to sample Andalucia away from the resorts. The city has a beautiful historic centre and is great for shopping too. Gibralfaro castle is a clear highlight. Located on top of a hill, you’ll find panoramic views of the city, port and sea.

As well as being famous for its beaches, Andalucia is also known for the many picture-perfect villages perched on hilltops. Arcos de la Frontera and Antequera are just two great examples. Ronda is another stunning city. Situated on a plateau with a dramatic drop of  150m to a gorge, the town looks like it’s teetering on a cliff edge. Granada is another great trip you can easily do from Malaga. As well as being home to the incredible Alhambra, Granada is a fantastic place to experience flamenco.
