Mallorca Airport (or Palma de Mallorca Airport to give its full name) is the main gateway to Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands. Located on the southwest coast of the island, the airport is just a short drive from the island’s capital, Palma de Mallorca. You can fly direct to Mallorca from a range of international and domestic destinations. The airport also operates inter-island flights to/from Ibiza Airport and Menorca Airport.

The capital, which most people simply refer to as Palma, is a beautiful city. The star of which is the city’s magnificent gothic cathedral. You’ll find it close to other historical sites including the Almudaina Palace and Bellver Castle. Plaza Mayor is another highlight and a great place to soak up Palma’s cosmopolitan vibe. And to top it off, the city has a great dining scene with some good shopping too. Whilst Mallorca’s stunning beaches are undeniably the biggest draw to the island, a visit to the capital for a bit of city life is definitely a must.
And as for those beaches, in Mallorca you really are spoilt for choice. Glorious sandy beaches of all sizes and coves dot the coastline. Popular resorts include Magaluf, S’Arenal, Palma Nova, Puerto Soller, Alcudia and Polenca. Inland, it’s worth exploring the island’s mountainous northwest region, which is home to the Tramuntana Mountains. In addition to offering spectacular scenery, you’ll find picture-perfect villages including Valldemossa and Deia nestled in the mountains.
Mallorca or Majorca?
Some people use Majorca for the island instead of Mallorca. But however you spell it, it’s pronounced ‘Ma-yorca’. Hope that’s clear!
