Barcelona Airport’s two terminals (T1 and T2) are 5 kms apart. So if you’re returning a car hire to Barcelona Airport, DO make sure it’s to the right one! And if you still need to book your car hire, it’s worth noting you can choose which terminal you want to collect/return the rental too. In this post, you’ll find our guide to returning a car hire to Barcelona Airport T2. We have more Barcelona Airport guides up on our blog.
Returning a car hire to Barcelona Airport T2: Who’s here?
Given Barcelona Airport is the second busiest airport in Spain, it’ll come as no surprise that there is a rather wide choice of car hire suppliers based here. Quite a few of them have an on-airport desk too!
Also in T2, you’ll find art pieces by Columbian artist Fernando Botero (a sculpture of a horse in the Arrivals Hall) and the large ceramic mural below by two of Catalonia’s finest: Joan Miró and Josep Llorens Artigas.

On-airport Barcelona Airport car hire
T2 is split into three sections: A, B and C. All on-airport car hire desks in T2 are located in section B (or T2 B). But they all use the main car park, which is right in front of the terminal.
Here’s the car hire companies in T2:
- Goldcar-Rhodium
- Hertz-Thrifty
- Enterprise-Alamo
- Avis-Budget
- Sixt
- Europcar-Keddy
- Firefly
- InterRent
All but Firefly Car Rental and InterRent have desks in both T1 and T2. Firefly and InterRent are only available at T2. Remember, however, that whoever you’ve got a rental with, you’ll still need to return it to the right terminal. There is a free airport shuttle going between the two terminals so if you’re catching a flight from the other terminal, take the shuttle. It’s pretty easy. Just allow and extra 20 minutes.
Off-airport Barcelona Airport car hire
Other companies with offices close to Barcelona Airport include: Autoclick, Centauro and OK Rent-a-car. If you have a rental with of these or another company, do check the instructions on your booking voucher for the returns process. Generally, you’ll need to return it to their office and then take their courtesy bus to the airport.
Driving to Barcelona Airport T2
Barcelona Airport T2 is located just 12 kms southwest of Barcelona. It lies close to two main motorways: B-10/C-31 and B-20/C-32. The airport is well-signposted on both motorways. And as get closer to the airport, you’ll see signs for T1 and T2 so just follow the right ones!
From the B-10/C-31 motorway
If you’re driving from Barcelona, it’s likely the B-10/C-31 motorway is the best route. From this motorway, you need exit 192 if you’re driving westbound or exit 192A if you’re driving eastbound. This will take you onto one of the main roads (B-22) leading to Barcelona Airport T2.
From the C-31, you need exit 192 or 192A for the airport
From the B-20/C-32 motorway
The motorway is the B-20 from the east/north of the airport and the C-32 if you’re driving from the west of the airport. Regardless of which direction you’re driving towards the airport, you need exit 54 for the airport. This will take you onto the B-22, which is one of the main roads going all the way to T2. Once on this road, make sure you stay in the lane for Terminal T2.

Nearest petrol station to Barcelona Airport T2
There is a petrol station very close to where T2 is located. As you approach the airport, look for the petrol station symbol on overhead signs. There is a turnoff to your right, which you need to take just before you reach the T2.
There are signs (they’re fairly small so do keep a look out for them) from the petrol station to take you back towards the airport.
The nearest petrol station is at a turnoff on your right before the terminal.
Car Rental Parking
As you near the airport terminal, you’ll need to initially be in the right lane. But as you get closer, you’ll need to move into the left lane. Parking for car rental is outside T2 B. So you’ll drive past T2 A on your right before coming up to the right car park.
Right after passing T2 A, move into the left lane again for Car Rental. The entrance to the car park for car hires will come up on your left. There is a sign before the entrance with all the relevant car hire suppliers on it. And you’ll see the cabins of the various suppliers here too (Europcar’s is the one you’ll see first).

Each of the main on-airport suppliers at Barcelona Airport have a cabin in the car park. You’ll spot Europcar’s first.
After you’ve parked the car and checked you’ve got everything, head to the relevant car hire cabin to drop off the keys and get the car signed off. If there isn’t a member of staff available here, you’ll find the on-airport desks inside the Arrivals Hall of T2 B.
