Old world charm in Lisbon
Lisbon at night
Built on a series of hills overlooking Rio Tejo, so it's easy to get marvellous views of a multilayered city. One of the oldest cities on the continent is home to gothic cathedrals and old world architecture… There is, of course, also the magic touch of those fabulous azulejos that make a stroll through the city always interesting. Eat good food, drink well and linger. Lisbon is also the place to catch some fado music - beautiful and mournful, this old type of Portuguese folk music encapsulates one of my favourite words saudade, which means longing. Come to Lisbon and you'll soon be longing for it after you've left!

Featuring miles and miles of sandy beach and some pretty fab surf too! Figueira da Foz is also just a short drive away from the ancient university town of Coimbra and the surrounding countryside.

Pretty Porto
Porto from Serra do Pilar
The home of Port offers so much more for the visitor! Relax by the river with some tasty food and wine, learn the history of Port and enjoy more old-world architecture. Porto offers amazing value for money that's a little like its famous sandwich - the francesinha - multilayered with lots of rich ingredients! As well as enjoying Portugal's northern coast, don't miss a visit to the Douro Valley. Your Portugal car hire is also your way in to see a more unexplored part of the country. See what else we loved about Porto in our travel blog.

Fondly referred to as the islands of eternal Spring and the Garden in the Atlantic, Madeira is a walker's paradise with lots of spectacular scenery to enjoy. Take in the lush mountainous terrain and colourful flora by exploring one of the Madeira Levada trails and stand in awe of the ocean by driving to the Cabo Girão, one of the highest sea cliffs on the continent. Azores car hire
Seven Cities Lake in São Miguel
Nine island gems in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean make up the Azores. Volcanic in origin, the Azores offer a diverse landscape that features lush vegetation, volcanic craters, lakes, verdant forests and secluded beaches. Not as visited as other island groups like the Canary Islands, you can really get away from it all here. The islands are also a fantastic place to go whale and dolphin spotting!
Most international flights fly direct to Ponta Delgada Airport in São Miguel, the largest of the archipelago, but you can also reach Faial Island and Terceira Island via Portugal. Ferries and small planes make their way between the various islands if you wanted to do some island hopping. An Azores car hire is the best way to enjoy the islands on arrival. Experience unspoilt nature at its best.
