Happy midsummer! Hope you've got some sunshine to help you enjoy yours... Midsummer always makes me think of Sweden so I thought we'd head back there for a little on the Swedish way to celebrate midsummer as well as to Rosendals Tradgard, a positively summery place to visit if you're in Stockholm. Although if you are there for midsummer, you'll find it closed and all the staff probably around a maypole dancing and singing songs... This is what you should be doing too!

If there's one word you should learn in Swedish, it's fika. A favourite custom amongst Swedes that involves coffee, cake and getting together. Occupying a large space on the waterfront in Stockholm is Fotografiska, Sweden's leading contemporary centre for photography. It's a beautiful space and attracts well-renowned photographers. Better yet, it's open until 9pm most days and to 11pm from Thursday to Saturday making its bistro/bar a pretty fab place to spend an evening. The panoramic views it offers aren't bad either! I check out its current exhibitions which include one of my favourite photographers, Henri Cartier-Bresson as well as see the surreal world of Dutch photographer, Ruud van Empel.

Find out how to find them, get tickets, how much and how long it would take to get to the city. Remember though that it might be worth your while getting a Sweden car hire if you're wanting to explore more of the archipelago at your own speed.
